Helpful tips to ace your upcoming exams

Helpful tips to ace your upcoming exams

How many of you are stressing out about your up and coming exams yet is procrastinating by looking for 'ways to study' or 'tips on how to pass an exam easily'? Here are few tips and tricks I usually use while studying which are less boring and more effective.

1- Treats!!

yes, treats. if a subject is long or boring, I usually do this method of setting checkpoints where I'd treat my self when I reach to that specific point. Like for example when I study physics, our book is divided into chapters and units, so I'd have a chocolate bar next to me and would only eat one bite of it if I finish a unit, this way it motivates me to finish the unit and move to the next one. But make sure to actually understand the unit rather than just moving on to treat yourself :)

2- Flashcards are key

I regret not using flashcards for all my past exams, its a very helpful thing for memorizing all types of things like keywords, terms, and even formulas. You can either use handwritten flashcards or digital ones that you can make on your own or find ready made ones online. I personally love using a website/App called Quizlet, its free to use but you can upgrade to the paid version and get more features. I prefer using the digital ones as I can view them at any time and anywhere, you can also print them onto hardcopy flashcards or share them with your friends.
advantages of using flashcards:

- Repeating the information over and over again makes it stick to your brain with less efforts

- If you go over them everyday it'll minimise the work you need to do prior to an exam

- Less boring, more effective

- You wont forget the topics you studied at the beginning of the year if you review the flashcards regularly

3- PRACTICE SOLVING QUESTIONS

For an IGCSE student or an IB student, there are past papers with marking schemes available online, solving them would make you be prepared and aware of the types of questions and expected answers. For other students who don't have access to past papers, going over your quizzes, unit tests, class and home works, or end of unit question would help you test yourself to make sure you actually understood everything and make you well prepared.

4- Having a study buddy

I prefer studying alone at times, but having a study buddy is very helpful too because:

- Someone might understand the topic more than you do and would help you get better understanding of it if you're studying together

- Make it feel less boring as you would feel accompanied and increase the motivation

- Explaining the topic to someone helps you get a better understanding of the topic and hey, you're helping at the same time

Just make sure you choose the right person to study with and make a deal to not go off topic and stop each other when you do so.

5- Watching videos on the topic

watching videos related to your topic helps a lot as it makes you visualise things rather than just reading paragraphs, YouTube has a tonne of videos to watch, you may also check Khan academy for free online courses and videos. Make sure the video you're viewing has the information you need (writing your grade or program after the topic name would give you more accurate search results ex; IGCSE chemistry stoichiometry)

Bonus tip:

I suggest you switch off your phone or have it away from you while studying as its the biggest distraction ever.

Those were a few tips and tricks to help you pass your exam smartly with less efforts and in a less boring manner, I hope they help you and I wish you a very good luck in your exam or test :)

and now just put the phone down, stop scrolling and procrastinating even more, and start studying!!

STUDY NOW, BE PROUD LATER
